Daily Journal December 28, 1998, William Thomas Thompson. Let us put first things first in family and with the Lord. This is Sunday and a special Sunday because Colleen's new baby girl will be dedicated to God in the Morning service at the church they attend North Hills Community Church. Her name is Kennedy Bordeaux Wheeler, born October 23, 1997 in the room at the new St. Frances Hospital privately owned hospital after the Catholics cashed out of the universal church here like elsewhere. North Hills Community Church is in the San Souci Community of Greenville on Old Buncombe Road in a converted store building fixed up very nice and with 500 to 600 people attending on this snowy day, cool but sunny. This was our first time to visit. This church is affiliated with Bob Jones University here and seems to be free in worship and independent. Everyone there seemed happy. Sans Souci area is near the old Pope Mill village. My Father sometimes took me with him to deliver milk from our home dairy in this neighborhood when I was a child and I still am a child. America is in drugs and gambling like crazy, legal most. This beautiful area of South Carolina¹s up state on the Western side is today very clear with that winter smell in the air. I do not feel right until I go upstairs and pray to start my day off on a positive note and with a clear conscious. Then my jog mile on the tread mill then the bench press then time to meditate. Today I will miss my regular teaching of Sunday school at our regular church. Colleen had the baby dressed in a long white satin dress and she looked beautiful and was well behaved. The worship service was 1 hour and well organized. The pastor is from Salem Mass. and spoke lots about Boston including the cult’s heavy Satan worship in that area. After this we went out to eat lunch at Quincy's Steak House Restaurant where I ate salmon on a gift certificate the Sunday school class has given us yearly. Matthew 5-3 "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the" This afternoon my mother will visit us here at the Gassaway. My sister who lives here in the city will bring her and we will sit in the music room (main room) in front of the gas fire logs. My sister then will drive Mother back home in the country although it’s not much country anymore. There are red lights now all the way. The demand for land is much stronger and every inch is used. "Kingdom of heaven." Make us humble Dear Lord I pray. After a walk with the dog boo boo in the yard we settle down to watch the news and then 60 minutes on C.B.S. television. This is one program on T.V. that interests me. Tonight 60 minutes has on art critic Robert Hughes of Time touring the Guggenheim in New York and talking about his book Fatal Shore. The program also reported on giant McDonalds hamburgers suing small business owners in England over minor infringements on their patent rights. The Mighty McDonalds sued McMonkeys, a tiny hamburger stand in London over using part of their name and won $100,000.00 or pounds. Yet they got no court order forbidding further use of the name. The internet picks up the lawsuit case and to date have advertised it to 17 million members around the world giving McDonald’s a bad image in the eyes of their customers and investors, whereas only a small area knew of McDonalds heavy handed court action before. May we, dear Lord, be careful of how we use or abuse our power.
